Acetate Uses

Recently a CSChat member asked "What do you do with acetate?" She compiled the answered and let us have them for the wiki. Thanks, Catherine!

A. Cut them out with templates, example, Sizzix

B. You can
  1. make windows on cards and/or shaker cards
  2. do the "polished stone" technique w/alcohol inks on it and then layer it or stamp on it.
  3. stamp on it with StazOn in - turn over then drop some diamond glaze in dime size spots - add some drops of dye re-inker and spread around with your finger (careful not to muddy colors) sprinkle on some clear glitter if you wish, take a piece of tissue paper (white) crumple it up then open and smooth the tissue paper onto the diamond glaze. The diamond glaze kind of glues it down. Set it aside to dry. There are some great photos at Awesome Acetate.
  4. stamp with StazOn on front. Turn over and color with Twinkling H2Os - then put a line or two of Diamond Glaze and then do the tissue paper thing like above but once you put the tissue down spritz with water and "smoosh" the diamond glaze around.
  5. Get the Technique Junkies Newsletter

C. I use acetate a lot. The only problem is that it is not acid free and over time it will eat your photos if you are using it with photos. I use it to do overlays on non photo layouts - put them through my printer and then use alcohol inks and stazon. They are really good but I never use them with pix.

D. It is thermal so it can handle heat. Stamp on it with permanent ink. Cut around it or close to it and put on page. Use it like a transparency. Use brads, eyelets to attach it to the page. You could also stamp with embossing ink and put some embossing powder on it and heat it.

E. Cool clear card tutorial over at Splitcoast Technique Tutorials.
