Notepads

Made from PoPS
by inknpaper
Click to enlargeI made the top left one using all Ivory Elegance paper, stamps and fiber with the addition of the "Just A Note" stamp from Musical Interlude.

My oldest daughter was having a slumber party when I made it and when the girls saw it, they all wanted it. After the guests left, my daughter told me what colors her friends would like and I spent a few days making six monogrammed notepads for her and her friends.

They are all approximately 3" x 5" and use PoPS for the inside pages. I used the PoPS on the inside because I have a lot of them and almost never use them in my scrapbooks and they are stacking up! I would rather use them as awesome notepaper, than not at all. I figure I'll use mine to write a quick note to a teacher or for a list that I would like to keep for more than a day or two. The card stock should be able to survive several days in my purse whereas regular copy paper would not. It's also a great way to share CS card stock with others who need to feel it to believe it!

I used the Rhapsody UM for the initial on all of them and the ribbon came from my stash, which is mostly Stampin' Up!

Other supplies used from left to right (not including the "Just A Note" one):
  • Rhapsody for the cover, Retro for the inside pages. I inked the cover to bring out the texture and stamped the bicycle from Journey on each inside page.
  • Wheel & Sprocket for the cover, Chapter One for the inside pages. I used a Stampin' Up! turtle image on each inside page. (The gal this was made for is really into turtles).
  • Fizz inside and out. I used the CSt stamp from Chapter One as a background on the cover and the stamp from Retro on the cover strip and on each inside page.
  • Paisley for the cover, Farmer's Market for the inside pages. I stamped the small Paisley stamp on each inside cover.
  • Stratosphere inside and out. Bodice stamp from Textiles & Notions on the front and the measuring tool stamp on the inside pages
  • Science inside and out. Fizz stamp on the cover and SU! cat stamp on the inside pages.

How to make one:
  1. Start with twenty-three (23) pieces of 3" x 5" PoPS, 2for the cover,20 for the inside pages, 1 to decorate the cover. I used the same card stock to decorate as for the inside pages.
  2. Using a mouse pad or other surface with some give, use the Tonic perforating tool across the top of each inside page, approximately an inch from the top.
  3. Score the cover piece approximately an inch from the top. Score on the back side of the cover so it opens up.
  4. Mark the cover where you want the holes for the ribbon and punch the holes in the cover. Then use the cover as a template to punch the remaining pages. I think you could use a Japanese screw punch but I don't have one so I just used a hand-held hold punch.
  5. Stamp and embellish the cover as desired.
  6. Stamp an image on each inside page using a shade that is similar in color to the inside page or a Versamark pad.
  7. Hold the pad together loosely and spread bookbinding glue across the top edge. Making sure the pages are lined up nicely, clamp the pad together using binder clips. (Rubber bands might work, too.) Don't use too much glue or you'll end with a mess. Start with less, you can always add more! I used a small piece of scrap card stock to smooth and spread the glue - you could use a foam brush if you prefer. You can skip this step if you don't care that your notepad will be "loose" or if you would prefer to bind your notepad with rings.
  8. If you used glue, when the glue is dry, feed some ribbon through each hole on the back and tie a bow on the front.

Enjoy!
